He took leadership of the All India Muslim League, formed in March 1940, and from 1947 onwards initiated the Pakistan movement. He successfully framed the Muslim League manifesto, adopted at the inaugural session of the All India Muslim League. He led the struggle for a separate homeland of Muslims, and died in 1948.
